Since I started NorthPR, I've been chatting to a lot of people about the power of Twitter.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say to me, 'Linda I just don't need to share with the world what I'm doing all the time.' It's true. You don't. And no one really cares what you are doing!
But you're smart and you have smart things to say. And that's what needs to be shared with the world. But in addition to sharing, if used properly, Twitter can give you the ability to talk to people you'd never be able to get the attention of before.
For example:
In my original Tweet, I wanted to get the attention of John Lilly, Partner at Greylock (NorthPR needs some investors after all ... just kidding) and former CEO of Mozilla. So I wrote a compelling tweet (it's all about the way you write a tweet) that I hoped would pique his interest. And it worked!
Twitter allows you to have conversations with people you wouldn't otherwise be able to connect with. But you have to do it in the right way!
Another example is a good friend of mine, who is a brilliant intrapreneur, was upset by a Forbes article that stated 'Intrapreneurship is a Myth.' So he wrote a response of his own blog. But what were the chances the author would see his blog post? Very unlikely. So I helped him get the attention of the writer.
It was perfect and now Ferhan can continue the conversation with this writer and potentially have the opportunity to change in the way the author thinks about intrapreneurship. Not to mention his blog views went up substantially!
The power of Twitter is huge. And I will to continue to highlight its successes!
